When a large manufacturing corporation was interested in moving their automation system from their current proprietary platform to one that was open and interoperable, they consulted with us for the best solution.  Their concept was to have all their building operations working together and sharing data on one platform.

We made that happen with a LonWorks® system. 

We started with fire alarm system; making its data available for future HVAC, lighting, access control, and video surveillance.  We designed a web-based interface that allows alarms to be seen anywhere in the plant using only a web browser.  We launched the new system onsite within a day.

Project Specs:

• The first Notifier NFS640 system to ever be integrated into a LonWorks® platform
• The fire alarm system had over 260 points consisting of smoke detectors, pull stations, flow switches, riser, and temperature alarms
• The Haworth factory covers an area roughly the size of one city block
• Fire alarm data needed to be available to help control future HVAC, lighting, access control, and video surveillance systems
• Alarms available for annunciation via any email capable device (e-mail, cell phones, PDAs)
• All fire alarms are viewable via a web interface with “drill down” graphics and pop up menus
• Time spent onsite after installation of the fire alarm system was less than one day
• System checkout took less than one hour
• Single point of connection to the fire alarm system panel and the plant IT infrastructure
